Religious house Cittadella Ecumenica Taddeide a Riano (Rome)

The Ecumenical Citadel stands on the front of the Capuchin Hill, now Taddeide Hill, surrounded by woods.

Thaddeus, derives its name from St Jude Thaddeus, apostle and cousin of the Lord and patron saint of desperate cases. An oasis of peace, it is located north of Rome on a hill that has always been a place of prayer. St Francis, when travelling from Assisi to Rome, made his last stop here. The Capuchin Friars built a convent here in 1592 as a reminder. In 1951 it was bought by the Father, Monsignor Giulio M. Penitenti, who in a few years transformed it into a majestic and spacious building, surrounded by woods.
